Umrah in the Arabic language linguistically, it means to visit and in the legislative definition it is to worship Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala by visiting the holy shrines of AL- Kaaba offering tawaf and sa’i in a specific fashion and manner. It is among the most beloved forms of worship to Allah and with it, Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala erases our sins elevates our status in Jannah and reward us abundantly with great deal of hasanat.
Umrah is a beautiful of worship that allows Muslims to make a strong connection with Allah and also seek his mercy and forgiveness. Umrah is a deeply meaningful Journey and a special opportunity to get closer to Allah. Umrah can be performed at any time in the year. Step 1.
It is a sunnah for the one intending to perform umrah to remove the hair from his underarms as well as his pubic hair, cut his nails, take a bath and perfume his body but not his clothes of ihram.Then you wear the clothes of ihram , these are called Rida “Upper body cover” and Izar “ Lower body cover “. Head for the men should be uncovered and footwear can be Sandals or Slippers where your foot is apparent.
As for women, they can wear their normal clothes except for Niqab (face cover) and Gloves.
Step 2.
Now you can wear your ihram before arriving at the Miqat. You can also wear ihram at your home or at Departure Airport before boarding their flights. You can also wear ihram during flight after the announcement (the plane is about to enter the Miqat).
Hajj and Umrah has five Miqat places that may not be passed without ihram to perform one of these.
1.DHUL-HULAYFAH
2.DHAT IRQ
3.QARN AL-MANAZIL
4.YALAMLAM
5.JUHAFA
After you prepared for ihram you have to recited the intention
لَبَّيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ عُمْرَةً
“Oh ALLAH! I ANSWER YOUR CALL TO PERFORM UMRAH”
Then you start recite talbiyah along with the other passengers on the plane. (Talbiyah should be recited individually).
Then you head towards the sacred house of Allah.
Step 3.
Before starting tawaf you stop reciting talbiyah. Then you head towards the corner of the black stone “Hajr-e-Aswad” and uncover the right shoulder and place the right side of rida under the arm. When you reach the black stone you only pointed to it and say “Allah hu Akbar ” ( اللہ اکبر ).
Then you start tawaf from black stone. Tawaf Consists of seven circuits that also end at the Black Stone. In the first three circuits, The pilgrims walks quickly with short steps called (RAMAL) and that is for men not for women. During the tawaf you may supplicate any Zikr(remembrance) of Allah that he wishes to say. It is the sunnah that , When you reach the yemeny corner from there onwards until reaching the black stone ( Hajr-e-Aswad ) you should read this dua:
رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَ فِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَ قِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
RABBANA ATINA FID-DUNYA HASANATAN WA FIL AKHIRATI HASANATAN WAQINA ‘ADHABAN-NAR
After reaching the black stone you have completed the first circle of tawaf. Now you will face the black stone with hand pointing to it and say: بِسْمِ اللَّهِ اَللّهُ أَكْبَرَ Or بِسْمِ اللَّهِ اَللّهُ أَكْبَرَ for your second round, You would now make any Dua that you would like to make in this tawaf
You will follow the same circuit 7 times. You also keen not to perform tawaf inside Hijr Ismail because it is part of the Kabbah. Entering it renders this circuit of tawaf incomplete and unavailing. At the end of the seventh circuit, cover your right shoulder and went behind maqam e Ibrahim and perform 2 rakah of tawaf. One can recite Surah Al-Kafiroon in the first rakah and Surah Al-Ikhlas in the second rakah. After praying the two rakahs, On the way, you drink from the water Zamzam, as instructed by the sunnah of the prophet (S.A.W)
Step 4.
Then you head towards the place of sa’i(going back and forth between Mount Safa & Mount Marwah). Then you ascend to As-Safa and upon this recited the verse in which Allah almighty says: “INNAS-SAFAA WAL-MARWATA MIN SHA’AA’IR-ILLAAH”
“Indeed, as-safa and al-marwah are among the symbols of Allah”
Then you stand to supplicate to Allah while facing the Ka ‘bah, It was the practice of Prophet Muhamad that he would read this dua SAY ALLAH HU AKBAR X 3 TIMES & THEN START THIS DUA:
“LAA ILAAHA ILL-ALLAAHU WAHDAHU LAA SHAREEKA LAH, LAHUL-MULKU WA LAHUL-HAMDU WA HUWA ‘ALAA KULLI SHAY’IN QADEER, LAA ILAAHA ILL-ALLAAHU WAHDAHU, ANJAZA WAHDAHU, WA NASARA ‘ABDAHU, WA HAZAM-AL-‘AHZAABA WAHDAH “
After saying this dua in Arabic, you can make any dua for yourself or family members.
“A’OODHU BI KALIMAAT ALLAAH AL-TAAMMAH MIN KULLI SHAYTAANIN WA HAAMMAH WA MIN KULLI ‘AYNIN LAAMMAH”
“A’OODHU BI KALIMAAT ALLAAH AL-TAAMMAATI MIN SHARRI MAA KHALAQ”

Once completed you would read this dua for the second time.
- “ LAA ILAAHA ILL-ALLAAHU WAHDAHU LAA SHAREEKA LAH, LAHUL-MULKU WA LAHUL-HAMDU WA HUWA ‘ALAA KULLI SHAY’IN QADEER, LAA ILAAHA ILL-ALLAAHU WAHDAHU, ANJAZA WAHDAHU, WA NASARA ‘ABDAHU, WA HAZAM-AL-‘AHZAABA WAHDAH “ ( Second Time )
- “A’OODHU BI KALIMAAT ALLAAH AL-TAAMMAH MIN KULLI SHAYTAANIN WA HAAMMAH WA MIN KULLI ‘AYNIN LAAMMAH”
- “A’OODHU BI KALIMAAT ALLAAH AL-TAAMMAATI MIN SHARRI MAA KHALAQ”

Once completed you would read this dua for the third time.
“LAA ILAAHA ILL-ALLAAHU WAHDAHU LAA SHAREEKA LAH, LAHUL-MULKU WA LAHUL-HAMDU WA HUWA ‘ALAA KULLI SHAY’IN QADEER, LAA ILAAHA ILL-ALLAAHU WAHDAHU, ANJAZA WAHDAHU, WA NASARA ‘ABDAHU, WA HAZAM-AL-‘AHZAABA WAHDAH “ ( Third Time )
Then after completing it you would start your walk between Mount Safa and Marwa, walking while reciting zikr and supplicating Allah with whatever supplication you could.
Then run between the two green marks placed between As-Safa & Al-Marwah. When you reach Al-Marwah, you completed 1 of 7 lengths. Then you return to safah in the same way and repeat the same till you complete the seventh round.
After this, men have to shave his hair while women cut the length of a finger tip from all the sides of the hair.
Now you completed all the rituals of umrah. May Allah Almighty accept your Umrah and rewards you with the best reward.
